What Next For The Smartphone
Long gone are the days when a cell phone was almost the size of a brick, back in the 1980s this was normal and you probably need to workout first before you purchased a phone to make sure you have enough strength to be able to carry it. But alas those days are gone and now in a world full of high tech gadgets that are capable of so much more than what their cell phones in the 1980s could only dream about.
Some of the recent advances in cell phone technology is simply mind blowing, a couple of years ago you would have some basic features on your phone a camera, calculator, calendar, phone book and you could use your phone to make phone calls and send text messages. Now smartphones allow us to do so much more, let's take a quick look at what's available now and possibly what's in the future in the next couple of years.
Mobile Gaming - this is big business at the moment on cell phones and smartphones alike, but most of the phone manufacturers now launching or already launched their online application portals where you can download the latest games available. Most of the games will also comes with demonstration games so if you can get a feel for the game play, the sound effects and graphics plus get a feel for how this works on your phone before you actually purchase the full version. Mobile gaming is big business and is going to be one of the major revenue generators for the cell phone manufacturers in the next few years.
Applications - this is another growth area with many applications now available to helpless in their daily lives. Some of the fun stuff available is social network applications that will help you keep in touch with your friends on Facebook and AOL's AIM. There are also programs for monitoring your weight loss, monitoring the weather, monitoring your stocks and shares and this list is just getting bigger and bigger every single day. There are plenty of applications available in most niche topics that you can think about.
Music - don't think I need to explain much on how important music is to consumers and to the mobile industry. Most of the major cell phone manufacturers now have music stores available for their users. The choice of music on most of the stores is into the hundreds and thousands or even millions of tracks available to download. The choice from most of these stores is just amazing and they are full of the latest tracks of course but also to back catalogue that they have is outstanding.
Internet - another important feature of smartphones is Internet access. Most of the usage of this now comes down to being able to access sites quickly where the network providers are doing this in two different ways they are allowing you access over their network and also truly fair use WiFi points in major cities. WiFi of course is going to be quicker and it also works out cheaper for you as you are not going to be paying for a call if you are in any WiFi hotspot.
There are so many applications on so many features now available on smart phones and this is just getting bigger and bigger. But the increased focus from cell phone manufacturers they now see the potential of not just supplying the hardware but also see the revenue generation opportunities that they can make from also supplying the software via application stores online. The cell phone has indeed come a long way since its humble beginnings with the first commercially available phone in the 1980s.
